McMichael Art Collection trades “tartan and shortbread” image for modern revamp
We’re thrilled to see our work with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection featured in Design Week — where McMichael’s Executive Director & Chief Curator Sarah Milroy and our CCO Laura Stein broke down how BMD reimagined an identity once associated with “tartan and shortbread” into something that truly matches the institution’s energy and breadth.
Together, we anchored the rebrand around an “invitation to explore”, redrawing a heritage logo, strengthening typographic presence, and expanding a vibrant color palette drawn from the art itself. Now the brand doesn’t just show up, it holds space for the McMichael’s dynamic story, from Indigenous practice to contemporary voices.
